  The Favourites Icon Explained!

First off… you require an icon. I made a 32x32 [pixels] icon in Photoshop 5, you can use Paint that comes with Windows or Paintshop Pro… most image applications ought be able to handle this… but those are the ones I'm sure of.

Once you have your funky design, you have to save it as an icon. To save it as an icon… you must name it "favicon.ico" without the quotes! This should save it as an icon. [You can be sure its saved as an icon because if you browse to its location on your computer the icon will be displayed, if its not there you have got something wrong].

All you have to do then, is put it in the root directory of your FTP account. Now when people bookmark your site they will get the icon in the menu!

You can test it by bookmarking your own site once you have uploaded it all!

Note: The icon will only be displayed in IE5 browsers or above.
